Health and Security

Understanding the nexus between health and security is an increasingly urgent U.S. policy priority, as proliferating global instability stalls progress toward global health goals, disrupts health service delivery, and threatens to spark the next pandemic.

Over the past three Administrations, U.S. health and development goals have steadily become more intertwined with national security policies. CSIS’s work on Health and Security provides an in-depth analysis of this emerging complex interface between proliferating security threats and extensive global health demands. Topics explored include contributions of the U.S. DOD in combating infectious disease, cultivating health security partnerships with governments in geopolitically significant regions, and assessing the successes and long term viability of the Global Health Security Agenda.
