Outlooks and Forecasts
Energy forecasts and the information they provide are essential tools for the creation and execution of energy policy and commercial decisionmaking. While it is important to acknowledge the limits of long-term projections, forecasts go beyond meticulous statistical predictions to develop intricate analyses that help us to understand underlying energy trends and to foresee the potential future dynamics related to production, consumption, technology and trade.
Outlooks range widely in scope, topic, and assumptions, making it at times difficult to compare or even reconcile differences. In line with the CSIS Energy and National Security Program’s goal to present a balanced and comprehensive overview of current energy issues, this page is intended as a resource to find and analyze these diverse forecasts and to provide access to enlightening discussions with the people behind their creation.
