VenezuelaThrough the Venezuela Initiative, the Americas Program brings government officials, multilateral organizations, private sector representatives, academic and regional experts, and non-profit institutions together to discuss how the United States, regional countries and the international community to undertake the most effective and coordinated approach to current challenges in Venezuela and during a ‘Day After; scenario. Our analysis explores opportunities for mobilizing key groups such as the Venezuelan diaspora in pushing for a return to a democratic, constitutional order in Venezuela. The goal is to provide analysis of possible policies and reforms for the most important sectors of the country.
Once Venezuela has a legitimate democratically-elected government in place, it will face a variety of social, economic, security, legal, institutional, and humanitarian challenges. From conquering out-of-control inflation to restoring food security and rule of law, it will not be easy, or quick. The Venezuela Initiative explores how new technologies—including cryptocurrency and blockchain—can assist in this rebuilding process, and how the international community will be able to support the newly democratic government in restoring order and prosperity.
