Despite the Islamic State’s loss of territory, there is still a large pool of Salafi-jihadist and allied terrorists in such countries as Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Nigeria, Libya, and Somalia willing to use violence to achieve their goals. Terrorism remains a serious challenge for the United States.
